The Royal Opera House constructed by the French architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, opened its doors in 1770 during the reign of Louis XV. Its fame and reputation for being the most remarkable piece of architectural art and the largest concert hall in Europe, has gone thorough a turmoil of events from hosting celebrations, shows and parliamentary debates, through to an impactful destruction including the central part, the stage, during the Second World War. The architect Andre Japy restored the house which was inaugurated in 1957 in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II, Her Majesty.
